- Chrome alloy split circular button dies designed for use with a die stock handle.
- Ideal for chasing existing threads to clean and restore them.
- Capable of cutting new male threads on non-ferrous metals and plastics.
- Not suitable for precision, safety-critical, or highly specialized threads.
- The British Standard Fine (BSF) thread form features a finer pitch than the British Standard Whitworth (BSW), offering more threads per inch for a given diameter.
- Introduced in 1908 and specified under BS84:1956, the BSF thread provides greater tensile stress area on external threads compared to coarse threads of the same size.
- Fine threads resist stripping better than coarse threads when subjected to high loads, making them suitable for applications where thread engagement length is limited or wall thickness demands a finer pitch.
