About this item:
- British Standard Fine (BSF) thread form, based on the British Standard Whitworth (BSW) but featuring a finer pitch with more threads per inch for a given diameter.
- Split circular chrome alloy button dies designed primarily for use with a die stock handle.
- Ideal for use as thread chasers to clean existing threads or to create new male threads on non-ferrous metals and plastics.
- Chrome alloy construction provides durability but is not suitable for producing precision, safety-critical, or high-tolerance threads.
- The BSF thread form, first introduced in 1908 and specified in BS84:1956, offers a greater tensile stress area than coarse threads of the same size when used on external threads.
- Fine threads resist stripping better than coarse threads under heavy loads and are preferred where engagement length is limited or wall thickness requires a fine pitch.
